Annual Women’s Wellness exams

Preventive Care That Supports Your Long-Term Health

Annual wellness exams are an important opportunity to check in on your health, address preventative questions early, and maintain continuity of care with your provider. Even when you’re feeling well, these visits play a key role in preventive care and long-term wellbeing.

Life can change from year to year. Annual visits help ensure those changes are understood and supported in a thoughtful, proactive way.

Cervical Health and Preventive Care

Your annual exam is a good time to talk with your provider about Pap testing, HPV, cervical cancer screening, and any questions you may have about your health. Dr. Erika Arceneaux shares helpful information about cervical health and the role of regular screening in preventive care.

Our Philosophy of Care

At Partners in Women’s Health, we believe annual women’s wellness exams are most effective when they are grounded in trust, continuity, and open communication. These visits are not just about screenings. They are an opportunity to check in on your gynecologic health, discuss changes or concerns, and support your well-being over time.

Our providers offer thoughtful, individualized preventive care based on your age, health history, symptoms, and goals. Your visit may include cervical cancer screening, breast and pelvic health evaluation, contraception counseling, menopause support, STI screening, or conversations about menstrual changes, pelvic symptoms, sexual health, or other concerns.

We emphasize listening, clear guidance, and shared decision making, with care that supports reassurance when appropriate and follow-up when additional evaluation may be helpful.

What Is an Annual Women’s Wellness Exam

An annual women’s wellness exam is a routine visit focused on preventive care, gynecologic health, and your overall well-being. These visits provide time to review your health history, talk through any changes or concerns, and make sure recommended screenings are up to date.

The details of your visit are guided by your age, health history, symptoms, and individual needs. Many patients begin gynecologic visits during adolescence, often as an opportunity to ask questions, discuss periods, learn about reproductive health, or establish care. Pelvic exams and cervical cancer screening typically begin around age 21 unless there is a medical reason to start earlier.

During your visit, your care team may review your medical, surgical, and family history, check vital signs such as blood pressure, height, and weight, perform a physical exam when appropriate, and discuss preventive screenings or health concerns. Your provider will recommend screenings and follow-up care based on current guidelines, your personal health history, and what is most relevant to your stage of life.
