All the physicians at Partners in Women's Health are Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All are Fellows of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Donald Aptekar, MD, FACOG

Valerie Imperial, MD, FACOG

Dr. Imperial was born in Montreal, Canada. Her family then settled in Houston, Texas. She earned her B.S. in biology and chemistry at University of Houston, then went on to Baylor College of Medicine, where she attended medical school and did her internship. She completed residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She joined PIWH in 1997.
Her particular clinical interests are menopausal medicine, fertility, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and contraception.
She enjoys knitting, exercising, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and son.
Dr. Imperial practices gynecology and early prenatal care.
Samantha Patwardhan, MD, FACOG

Dr. Patwardhan joined PIWH in 2004, after completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology, and serving as chief resident, at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Prior to that, she earned her BS degree in biology and art at the College of William and Mary, and her MD degree at the University of Virginia.
Her particular clinical interests include in-office Essure tubal sterilization, in-office endometrial ablation, laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy, contraception, and acupuncture for fertility and pregnancy-associated conditions.
She grew up in Western New York. She lives in Denver with her husband, Drew, who is a urogynecologist, their baby son, and a blue dog. She enjoys running, knitting, tennis, hiking, snowshoeing, and snowboarding.
Dr. Patwardhan practices obstetrics and gynecology.
Theodore Cooper, MD, FACOG

Dr. Cooper started PIWH with Dr. Aptekar over 30 years ago, after starting in private practice in Denver a few years prior to that. He went to Cornell University, where he earned his BS degree, and then SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York, where he earned his MD degree. He continued there for his internship in internal medicine. He then had a memorable experience for two years, working in a range of medical disciplines,with the Indian Health Service in Parker, Arizona. Upon his return, he completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Colorado and Rose Medical Center.
Dr. Cooper has been a consultant to the Nurse Midwifery Program at University of Colorado, and, along with Dr. Aptekar, was in collaborative practice with With Women Midwifery Care in the past.
He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Colorado. He is a past President of the Medical Staff and past Member of the Board of Directors at Rose Medical Center.
Dr. Cooper is married to his wife of nearly 45 years. They have two children and four grandchildren. He enjoys skiing, birding, travel, biking, photography, reading, and woodworking.
Dr. Cooper practices gynecology.
