All the physicians at Partners in Women's Health are Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  All are Fellows of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Donald Aptekar, M.D., FACOG

Partners in Women's Health

Dr. Aptekar started Partners in Women's Health with Dr. Cooper in 1977. Since that time over 12,000 mothers/babies have been cared for by the doctors in the practice.

He is a past president of the Colorado OB/GYN Society, past chairman of the medical board of Planned Parenthood, and Assistant Clinical Professor of OB/GYN at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Other interests include preserving and taking advantage of Colorado's extraordinary landscape through conservation efforts, hiking, biking, skiing, and avidly fly fishing. He is married and has two sons.  

Dr. Aptekar grew up in Detroit, went to college in Boston (Brandeis University), medical school at University of Michigan, and residency at the University of Colorado.

Valerie Imperial, MD, FACOG

Dr. Imperial was born in Montreal, Canada.  Her family then settled in Houston, Texas.  She earned her B.S. in biology and chemistry at University of Houston, then went on to Baylor College of Medicine, where she attended medical school and did her internship.  She completed residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.  She joined PIWH in 1997.

Her particular clinical interests are menopausal medicine, fertility, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and contraception. 

She enjoys knitting, exercising, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and son. 

Dr. Imperial practices gynecology.

Samantha Patwardhan, MD, FACOG

Dr. Patwardhan joined PIWH in 2004, when she moved to Denver for a new adventure, and now calls it home. She remembers calling Dr. Aptekar on the phone one weekend to accept the offer to join the group, and he was on the chairlift in Vail. She knew then that the Colorado lifestyle sounded like the right choice! 

Prior to coming to Denver, she completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, where she also served as chief resident. She received awards for laparoscopic skills and for clinical research in her chief year. Her undergraduate degree in biology and studio art is from the College of William & Mary, and her medical degree is from the University of Virginia.

Her clinical interests, including general obstetrics & gynecology, are hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and contraception.

She enjoys life in Colorado with her husband, who is a urogynecologist, and their two energetic boys. She loves running, tennis, knitting, and biking around Denver with her family.

Maeve Felle, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Felle was born and raised in Maine, but came across the country to study environmental biology at the University of Colorado.  She then received her MD from the University of Texas and returned to Colorado to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado.


 Dr. Felle joined the practice in 2012.  Her clinical interests include general obstetrics, and gynecology with focuses in breastfeeding and contraception.   She also speaks conversational Spanish.

Dr. Felle lives in the Stapleton neighborhood and enjoys the parks and trails with her husband and two children.  She also enjoys yoga, gardening, and cooking with her family.

Christina M. Gonzalez, M.D.

Dr. Gonzalez

Dr. Gonzalez was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.  She obtained her undergraduate degree in biology, as well as her medical degree from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.  She then went on to complete her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Gonzalez practices obstetrics and gynecology with clinical interest in contraception, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, preventative care and health maintenance.  She also has a passion for creating a positive pregnancy and birth experience for women and their families.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.  She also loves traveling, hiking and tennis.
